Combining an authentic Catholic faith with the skill, professionalism, dedication, and compassion necessary to confront and treat today’s medical and psychiatric problems does indeed challenge physicians and health care practitioners. The practice of medicine for Catholic physicians and all Catholic health care workers is based not only on the Gospels but bears witness to a high standard of ethical and moral principles different from the modern secular view of today.
It’s important to note the potential conflicts for many who according to their consciences, cannot participate in sterilizations, abortions, euthanasia, contraception, etc., that contradict Catholic teaching.
As the definitions of medical diagnoses and protocols and treatment change according to the whim of government, and more mandates are aimed at Catholic workers and hospitals, physicians and health care professionals are navigating a very narrow path that threatens their vocations and morale.
To address these issues, Anthony LoCoco, J.D., owner of Wisconsin Appellate Litigation Services, LLC is the featured speaker at this year’s “White Mass”. Brunch will also be provided, sponsored by the St. Gianna Molla Guild. The St. Gianna Molla Guild of Northeast Wisconsin is open to all healthcare professionals, members of religious orders, Catholic Hospitals, and anyone interested in healthcare issues relating to the Catholic Faith. The Guild is a leading voice of the Catholic medical community, applying Catholic principles to the practice of medicine, advocating for these principles, and helping to guide religious and national leaders in the area of healthcare ethics and policies.
The White Mass will be offered by His Excellency Bishop David L. Ricken on Sunday, February 11, 2024, 9 am, St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, 140 Monroe Street, Green Bay, WI.
Attorney LoCoco’s litigation experience includes two terms clerking for Chief Justice Ziegler of the Supreme Court of Wisconsin, and five years with a leading Wisconsin litigation center focusing on high-stakes appeals. As Vice President of the Milwaukee Chapter of the Federalist Society, and President-elect of the St. Thomas More Lawyers Society of Milwaukee, Anthony will offer a timely and interesting lecture entitled “Legal Impediments to Practicing Authentic Catholic Medicine”.
